Book Insights from Supply Chain Leader

A collection of books, worth reading not only once but many times over. These books will enrich you with interesting insights…..

Carol is the psychology professor at Stanford University. Carol argues that individuals have beliefs about ability. Some believe the source of their success is innate ability and others believe it is their hard work and learning.

Those who believe in innate ability are said to have Fixed mindset and other are said be Growth mindset.

Both these type of people behave differently.

Fixed mindset individuals fear failure as it reflects upon their basic abilities, while growth mindset individuals are not afraid of failure as through hard work and learning, the performance can be improved.

This simple belief in Fixed/Growth mindset affects future behavior.

  • Growth mindset individuals continue to persist despite setbacks whereas Individuals with Fixed mindset stop putting efforts as they believe the success is because of their fixed intelligence and traits
  • Growth mindset are concerned about improving and they like challenges
  • Fixed mindset are concerned about validation

Failure does not define an individual. Praise the efforts and not the intelligence. Carol argues that we can change our mindset and live a better life.
